Privacy Policy

Pulp Editor ("Pulp", "we", "us") is operated by Orange Console LLC. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Pulp, why we collect it, how we handle it, and the choices you have. Pulp is built to keep your writing where it belongs, so the short version is that your documents stay on your device unless you ask us to do something with them.

Information we collect

Account information

When you create an account we collect your email address, and a display name if you provide one. If you sign in with Google, we receive your email address, name, and profile image from Google. We do not receive your Google password.

Your documents

Documents you write in Pulp are stored locally in your browser. We do not store the text of your documents on our servers, and we cannot read them. The writing analysis that powers readability grading, passive voice detection, and the rest of the highlights runs entirely on your device. The exception is the AI features described below, which require sending the relevant text to a provider in order to return a result.

AI feature usage

When you use an AI feature, the text you selected, along with limited surrounding context from the document, is sent to our AI provider to generate the result. We keep metadata about the request, such as the operation you chose, the length of the input, when it ran, and whether it succeeded. We do not retain the text itself, and we do not use your writing to train AI models. If you opt in to help improve Pulp, we retain specific examples you submit; this is off by default and you can turn it off at any time.

Billing information

Payments are processed by Stripe. We receive your subscription status, plan, and billing history. We never see or store your full card details.

Usage and device information

We collect product analytics about how Pulp is used, such as which features are opened, how often, and where errors occur. We also collect standard technical information sent by your browser, including IP address, browser type, operating system, and referring page. This never includes the text of your documents.

How we use information

To provide Pulp, authenticate you, and sync your account across sessions.
To run the features you ask for, including AI operations.
To process subscriptions, trials, and payments.
To understand how Pulp is used in aggregate and decide what to build and fix.
To communicate with you about your account, changes to the service, and support requests.
To detect, investigate, and prevent abuse, fraud, and security incidents.
To comply with legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for advertising. We share information only with the service providers that make Pulp work, and only to the extent they need it:

Supabase — authentication and account data.
Our AI provider — processes text you submit to AI features and returns the result.
Stripe — payment processing and subscription management.
Our analytics provider — product usage analytics.
Our hosting and infrastructure providers — running the site and application.

We may also disclose information if required by law, subpoena, or other legal process, or where we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights, your safety, or the safety of others. If Pulp is involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may transfer as part of that transaction; we will notify you before your information becomes subject to a different policy.

Retention

We keep account information for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete your account information and associated records within 30 days, except where we are required to retain records for legal, tax, or accounting purposes. Because your documents live in your browser, deleting them there removes them; clearing your browser storage will also remove them, so keep your own copies of anything important. Aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably identify you may be retained indefinitely.

Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect information, including encryption in transit, encryption at rest for data we store, and access controls limiting who on our side can reach production systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.

Cookies and similar technologies

We use cookies and local storage to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, store your documents on your device, and measure product usage. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies, though blocking them will prevent parts of Pulp from working, including staying signed in.

Your choices and rights

Access, correct, or delete your account information by contacting us.
Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
Use the editor and on-device writing analysis without an account.
Decline AI features entirely; nothing leaves your device unless you invoke them.
Opt out of contributing examples to product improvement, which is off by default.
Unsubscribe from product emails using the link in any message. We will still send essential account and billing notices.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights over your personal information, including the right to object to or restrict certain processing, the right to data portability, and the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights. To make a request, email us at hello@writewithpulp.com.

International users

Pulp is operated from the United States. If you use Pulp from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States and in other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country.

Children

Pulp is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the date at the top of this page, and for material changes we will give you notice by email or in the product before the changes take effect.
